For decades, New England homeowners would shop for appliances by walking down a line of different models and make their selections based almost entirely on price and aesthetics. All they knew about the operation or benefits of an oven or cooktop was what they could read in on the point-of-purchase signage and learn from talking to the salesperson.

What does the clothing company the Boston Globe called "The Top Innovator in Retail" have in common with New England's leading distributor of wine and spirits? Or a beer geek and botany nerd who are taking Boston by storm? And why are these companies in the same sentence with an award-winning lighting designer?

In 2013, Fox TV's "MasterChef" cooking couple Anna and AJ Rossi came on Clarke's screen when they both became finalists on the series, which had auditioned 60,000 amateur cooks and narrowed the field to 100, including the Rossis. Anna went on to the finals when her Molten Lava Cake wowed Joe Bastianich, "MasterChef" judge and restauranteur. Following their television debut, Clarke invited Anna and AJ to host a cooking class at the Milford Showroom, which was a big success.

In our last Top 10 Monthly Kitchens blog of 2017, we take a look at more innovative uses of Sub-Zero, Wolf and ASKO. In some projects our brands are brought front and center with gleaming stainless, signature red knobs and multiple ovens, and in others they are deftly integrated behind surfaces that make the appliances disappear into a room that is more furniture than traditional kitchen. Thank you to all of the designers who embraced customized refrigeration configurations, multiple ovens (steam, convection, microwave), countertop modules and more in 2017...

Thanks to Jill Muldoon of Kitchen & Bath Details for sharing this beautiful kitchen, which was part of a full-scale waterfront home renovation. Muldoon's team took the original land-locked kitchen and created an open floor plan by removing a few view-impeding walls. This new design works perfectly to connect the kitchen to the dining area and full water views beyond. Gleaming white with light grey tile (and a magnificent mosaic tile feature over the Wolf Range), this kitchen offers incredible views both inside and out.

Clarke South Norwalk Showroom Consultant Uschi Samaritano is a wealth of knowledge about Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, but when she isn't talking cooking, baking and kitchen design, she is tending to her large garden and apple orchard, as well as beekeeping (more on that in another blog post.) Uschi lives on a property that was previously part of a large apple orchard and currently has 9 apple trees. She isn't sure what variety they are, as they are very old and weren't cared for over the years. Every year she prunes them a bit more to bring them back to health.

For more than a decade, Clarke's Milford, MA showroom was home to Chef Ming Tsai's public television show Simply Ming. For many years, the culinary center inside Clarke's South Norwalk, CT showroom has been the television studio for Chef Lidia Bastianich's Lidia's Kitchen show on public television. Now, for the second year in a row, Ellie Krieger has chosen the demonstration kitchen at Clarke, New England's Official Sub-Zero & Wolf Showroom and Test Kitchen, in South Norwalk as her "home kitchen" for taping the cooking portion of her 13 episodes of Ellie's Real Good Food.
